My client has a great opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with Linux system support/engineer with AWS experience to work in their London office. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a challenging role where they can progress and develop.

Technical skills for the DevOps Linux systems support/engineer:

  • Experience doing Helpdesk support.
  • Knowledge of Office365, Active Directory, Windows 10, VPNs and support end-users.
  • Experience in banking or corporate environment.
  • Experience building/setting up Microsoft Windows servers and laptops.
  • Experience ordering equipment and dealing with third party companies for 2nd/3rd line support.
  • Understanding of WAN & LAN networking concepts including: TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS.
  • Networking Experience (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
  • Understanding of Group Policy and File Permission.
  • DevOps knowledge.
  • Linux.
  • Systems support / engineer.
  • Conceptual knowledge of server virtualization technology.
  • A keen interest, working knowledge in virtual infrastructure technologies (Cloud, e.g. Microsoft Azure or AWS) and an understanding of best practices.
  • Continuous integration system (Jenkins) performing and automating systems administration tasks in Ansible and Terraform.
  • Experience installing, administering and configuring SQL Servers (MySQL).

Technical skills – Desirable:

  • Strong analytical and technical skills with clear understanding of the lifecycle of software projects, integrations (XML/JSON) and services.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban, Scrum).
  • Experience testing systems (software and infrastructure).

  • Personal drive (proactive), flexible, creative (thinks out of the box), result driven, responsible, curious, team player and fast learner.
  • Hands on attitude, willing/capable to understand the big picture.
