We are seeking a qualified and experienced renewable energy senior engineer with expertise in design and installation of commercial and industrial groundâsource and airâsource heat pump and combined heat and power (CHP) systems, together with energy storage systems. This is a fullâtime, permanent, fieldâbased role.
Responsibilities
- Technical Design: mechanical and electrical engineering design of commercial and industrial HP, CHP and energy storage systems, including specification and drawing production to meet client, tender and compliance performance requirements; lead a small engineering team.
- Installation & Commissioning: install, commission and set up heat pump systems and CHP units according to company standards and client specifications, including remote monitoring systems and alarm/setâpoint configuration; supervise and lead site teams as required.
- Fault Diagnosis: troubleshoot and resolve escalated electrical and mechanical faults in both groundâsource heat pump and CHP systems.
- Customer Support: provide highâquality technical support and advice to operations, sales and external clients.
- Documentation & Reporting: produce, develop and maintain accurate engineering records and drawings and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Travel Requirements: travel to customer sites nationwide (approximately 25 % of the time) to support sales, installations, maintenance and repairs.
- Technical Thought Leadership: maintain oversight of industry and regulatory developments, identify their application for competitive advantage and improved solution development; engage with and lead partner suppliers and manufacturers.
- Health & Safety: adhere to all health and safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices at all times; certified in SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
Qualifications and Experience
- Mechanical & Electrical Qualifications: must be qualified, ideally to degree level, in electrical or mechanical engineering or heat pump system design and/or instrumentation and controls systems at a commercial and industrial scale.
- Experience with Heat Pumps and CHP: proven experience in design, installation and operation of commercial air/ground source heat pumps and/or CHP units, energy storage and supervision of the same.
- Webâbased Performance Monitoring and Alarm Systems: set up, design, configuration and development of alarm and monitoring systems.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: strong ability to diagnose and repair escalated faults in both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence: must have a valid, clean UK driving licence; company vehicle provided.
- Excellent Communication Skills: effective communication with clients and colleagues, providing clear technical guidance.
- Flexibility: willing to travel frequently (approximately 25 % of the time) to various sites.
- Leadership and Supervision: experienced and comfortable leading an engineering team, interpreting drawings, schedules and specifications, and managing a team to deliver goals and engage across the business.
