Associate Fire Engineer

You will be;
As Associate Fire Engineer you’ll be providing Fire Safety Consultation and developing Fire Safety Strategy for a variety of projects in Built Environment. From concept to completion, you’ll be;
- Acting as the go-to contact for Clients providing Fire Safety Engineering services, communicating effectively to foster strong client relationships;
- Co-ordinating and managing project teams in delivering Fire Safety Services on time, in budget, to scope and keeps up to date with billing
- Providing specialised technical input to the project
- Managing and mentoring a dedicated team of Fire Engineers, guiding junior talent and signing off on key deliverables
- Presenting complex technical solutions to clients
- Contributing to business development, fee proposals and the continued growth of our team
- Managing budgets
- Proactively coordinating with other disciplines on project work and through engineering networks
You will need;
Qualifications:
- Fire Engineering qualification or a relevant Engineering degree.
- Member of IFE and achieved or working towards achieving CEng.
Experience:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in practicing Fire Engineering in the UK market
- Management experience in either projects, people or budgets or the desire to develop in this area
Knowledge:
- Good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Fire Safety Engineering such as fire behavior design, radiation calculations, smoke ventilation system and evacuation parameters applicable for utilising computer modelling tools.
- Relevant experience with knowledge of the CIBSE Guide E, SFPE Handbook, Smoke Control Association guidance documents and British Standards i.e. BS 7974 series is preferred, but knowledge in other standards such as NFPA, IBC is welcomed.
- Sound knowledge of Fire Engineering, building construction (RIBA Stages, contracts), and building services.
- Strong grasp of national and local Fire Safety regulations and construction risk management.
- Experience leading projects across sectors from design to handover.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and presentational skills.
- Strong organisational ability.
- IT literacy with proficiency in the use of a range of design software such as MS Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and BIM.
- A full and detailed knowledge of Fire Engineering, building construction and good understanding of building contracts and appointments.
- Produce written reports in good English and where appropriate use technical language.
- Proficient with financial information.
