We are currently seeking to recruit a Technical Trainer to join the team at the Mercedes-Benz Cars & Van Technical Training Centre in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of engaging training programmes to the UK retailer network via attended training sessions and virtual classroom. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, with significant new investment in digital learning innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver core technical training courses via a range of forums including attended Classroom/Workshop training, Virtual Classroom, and Film/Live Broadcasts.
  • Deliver highly engaging, learner-focused training programmes and contribute to their continuous development, with a high focus on existing and emerging learning technologies.
  • Demonstrate Mercedes-Benz brand values in all activities and interactions, advocating the brand in everything that you do.
  • Work with the wider Training and Development team to seek continuous improvements with a focus on learner outcomes and experiences.
  • Undertake design and development work as and when required.
  • Undertake all aspects of training administration in relation to training delivery as required, including completing course rosters, pre-course and post-course briefings and checks, assessments, and certification.
  • Ensure workshop/training centre housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date data in line with training requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the brand, retailers, outside agencies and professional bodies to ensure qualification and/or training programmes meet their qualitative requirements and ensure quality assurance procedures/policies are up to date, suitable and effectively delivered.
  • Maintain own professional expertise and keep up to date with the latest developments; undertaking training and development directly relevant to the profession, attending internal and external training as required.
  • Support any programme administration activities as required.
  • Attend factory or brand-led events as a representative of the brand and Calex, including train-the-trainer events (sometimes in Germany) and new product/technology launches.

About You

  • Level 3 or equivalent Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (Essential).
  • Existing Technical Training and/or Coaching experience, and linked qualification (Highly Desirable).
  • Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Experience and/or Professional Qualification (Highly Desirable).
  • Mercedes-Benz product and workshop experience, including formal accreditation (Highly Desirable).
  • General Mercedes-Benz brand (car and van), product, retailer, and technical knowledge (Desirable).
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS, TAP) (Desirable).
  • Recent Automotive workshop experience, and professional qualification (Essential), ideally gained in a manufacturer workshop environment.
  • Maths & English GCSE Level 4/C or above (or equivalent) (Highly Desirable).
  • Willing to work collaboratively within a high performing team (Essential).
  • Demonstrate an outgoing, enthusiastic, and confident personality, with a desire to engage with people.
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) and organisational skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • The ability to communicate with a variety of people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Able to maintain a professional manner at all times.
  • Demonstrate a pro-active ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • A proficient user of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Salary & Benefits: Up to £40,000 dependant on experience. Contract: Permanent / Full Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week

Place of Work: Mercedes-Benz Technical Training Centre, Tongwell, MK15 8BA. Some regional training may be required from time to time.

Pre-employment Checks: Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated referees, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
