The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating the health & safety and CDM requirements throughout the design and pre-construction stages, ensuring projects are properly planned, coordinated and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Coordinate and manage H&S requirements throughout the design process.
  • Review design information, drawings and specifications to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate with designers, consultants, contractors and the client.
  • Undertake site surveys and inspections where required.
  • Coordinate survey information and ensure it is incorporated into the design.
  • Review and maintain the Pre-Construction Information (PCI).
  • Prepare, review and maintain the Health & Safety File.
  • Ensure design risk assessments and risk registers are maintained.
  • Coordinate design meetings and H&S discussions.
  • Liaise with the client and wider project team to ensure CDM compliance.
  • Identify potential design and construction risks and provide practical mitigation measures.
  • Ensure appropriate records and documentation are maintained throughout the project.

About You

We are looking for someone with

  • Proven experience working as a Principal Designer / CDM Advisor.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and UK H&S legislation.
  • Experience coordinating surveys, design information and project documentation.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of CDM/H&S responsibilities.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, APS or equivalent would be advantageous
