PSV / PCV Engineering Manager Location: Sutton / Inner Surrey Salary: £74,000 - £80,000 Per Annum (D. O. E) Bonus: 15% Performance Bonus & Benefits

We are currently seeking an experienced PSV Engineering Manager or PCV Depot Manager to lead a dedicated team of workshop engineers and technicians in the Sutton / Inner Surrey area.

In this role, you will be driving operational excellence across all areas of PSV and PCV vehicle maintenance, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance within the competitive Tf L London Bus sector.

As a senior leader, you will oversee a fast-paced workshop environment, ensuring that both passenger safety and fleet availability remain at the highest standards across our entire PSV / PCV operation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Workshop Leadership: Managing a dedicated PSV / PCV workshop in a cost-effective, productive, and safe manner.
  • Team Development: Leading, mentoring, and developing the PSV and PCV engineering team to achieve outstanding performance and technical excellence.
  • Compliance & Scheduling: Managing planned maintenance and statutory inspections for all fleet PSV and PCV assets.
  • Data Utilization: Using both data and modern technology to optimize PSV / PCV fleet performance, monitor fuel efficiency, and drastically reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Defect Management: Systematically recording, tracking, and rectifying any mechanical or electrical defects reported by PSV / PCV operating staff.
  • Facilities & Legislation: Managing the maintenance, health and safety, and environmental impact of the company premises, ensuring full legislative compliance for all PSV / PCV repair stands.
  • Mileage Optimization: Minimizing engineering lost mileage by delivering exceptionally safe and reliable vehicles to ensure Tf L and traffic route requirements are met.
  • Talent Acquisition: Interviewing, onboarding, and selecting candidates for new openings within the PSV / PCV workshop.
  • Performance Management: Carrying out formal disciplinaries and performance reviews when necessary to maintain high workshop standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Industry

Experience: The successful candidate must come directly from a HGV / PSV / PCV / Bus / Coach sector (Heavy Vehcile / HGV industry experience will be considered) and possess previous experience in a senior workshop management capacity.

  • Qualifications: You will hold an industry-recognized mechanical engineering qualification (such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or IRTEC) specifically aligned with heavy vehicle, PSV, or PCV maintenance.
  • Leadership Tenure: Ideally, a minimum of 2–3 years of direct experience in a similar senior PSV / PCV engineering management role.
  • Technical Knowledge: A thorough, deep-dive understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures for modern PSV / PCV / Bus and Coach configurations.
