Role Overview
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the role holder shall, as part of the Shore Support Electrical Engineering team, provide electrical engineering maintenance and repair services to support CalMac’s fleet of Major and Small Vessels. The role holder will ensure all work is carried out safely, productively and with no detrimental environmental impact.
Principal Accountabilities
- Carrying out electrical engineering works onboard CalMac vessels and Faulds Park Workshop
- Ensure own compliance with all CalMac safety and environment policies and procedures
- Ensure all works are carried in-line with Class & statutory requirements
- Ensuring all works and services are provided in accordance with the Fleet Management Manual and CalMac’s wider policies and procedures
- Ensure that all work is conducted safely, efficiently and “right first time”
- Ensure all work requests received are routed via Works Management processes
Field-Service Operations
- Ensure all works are planned to ensure all the essential elements required to successfully complete work on time, at the lowest cost, while achieving the necessary work quality
- Ensure all works are scheduled in cooperation with the Planning & Workshop Controller
- Ensure when deployed risk assessments and method statements are provided in accordance with; the appropriate vessel operating manual (VOM); or repair yard, health & safety requirements
- Ensure tests of equipment & tools are in-date for test and calibration before carrying out works
General
- Fully comply with: the company’s safety policies and procedures; the “9 Lifesaving Rules”; constructively challenge any observed, or reported, unsafe behaviour
- Ensure all accidents, near misses are timeously reported in-line with company policy
- Execute the delivery of annually set objectives and personal development plan
- Participate in one-to-ones with Senior Engineer; and at least two performance reviews per year
- Any other tasks and duties required by manager, where the role holder is deemed safe and competent to undertake those tasks and duties
The successful applicant would be Gourock based at our shore support facility in Faulds Park, however there would be a requirement to travel within the CalMac network and ship repair yards. This may often involve working evenings and weekends and being part of a "call-out" roster to support vessels to remain in, or return to service.
