Location: Hybrid, 3 days from home and 2 days from our Gourock office/on the Ferry Network

Contract: Permanent, full time Monday – Friday

Salary: Circa £70K

Shape the future of data and information governance at CalMac. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role at a time of significant change, investment and transformation across CalMac. With the award of the CHFS3 contract for the next 10 years, we are entering an exciting new chapter within our Technology Team with Data being one of our four focus areas in our Technology Transformation programme. The need for strong, modern data and information governance will be critical to our success.

We’re looking for a Data and Information Governance Lead who is passionate about continuous improvement and who can take ownership to design, build and operate frameworks from the ground up, and influence at all levels of the organisation and across our diverse functions.

The role:

  • Take end‑to‑end ownership of CalMac’s data and information governance strategy
  • Design and embed practical, scalable governance frameworks, standards and controls
  • Act as a trusted advisor in data and information governance, influencing senior leaders and stakeholders across the business
  • Champion best practice in data quality, data protection, records management and information lifecycle management
  • Translate legislation and regulatory requirements into workable, real‑world solutions
  • Work autonomously, prioritising activity and driving progress without the need for close supervision
  • Play a key role in supporting enterprise‑wide change and long‑term investment programmes

About you:

This is a role for someone who enjoys building and changing, not just maintaining and who brings clarity and momentum in complex environments and we’re seeking someone who:

  • Has strong expertise in data and information governance, with a pragmatic, business‑focused mindset
  • Demonstrates experience in leading and building teams within Data, Information Management and Governance

  • Is visible and highly influential, with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders constructively, taking them on the change journey with you
  • Enjoys designing and creating frameworks, processes and ways of working
  • Takes clear ownership and accountability for measurable outcomes

  • Thrives in periods of change and sees transformation as an opportunity solving problems and driving success
