\nWe are seeking a customer focused and proactive Retail Assistant to join our team at Troon and Ardrossan Ferry Terminals on a fixed term basis until October 2026. Reporting to the Retail Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience while providing catering and retail services within a fast paced port environment.
\nThis is a varied role that requires flexibility, initiative and a commitment to delevering high standards of customer service. The post involves working at both Ardrossan and Troon ports as per the operational requirements of each port.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Attend to customer needs and respond positively to customer requests \n
- Deliver a catering and retail service that supports the achievement of customer and business objectives \n
- Adhere to retail operational procedures, including stock policies and merchandise layout plans \n
- Follow company cash handling, stock control and security procedures \n
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and housekeeping within the retails and catering areas \n
- Support day to day operations as required \n
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the Retail Supervisor \n
Essential Criteria
\n- \n
- Good understanding of CalMac services \n
- Computer literate with excellent verbal and written communication skills \n
- Customer focused with a clear understanding of customer service and a proactive approach to customer care \n
- Food Hygiene and Safety for Catering certification (or equivalent recognised qualification) \n
- Ability to commute to Ardrossan and Troon Ferry Terminals on a daily basis and work between the two locations, sometimes at short notice, to meet operational requirements \n
- Flexible approach to working, including shift and weekend work \n
- Ability to work independently and use initiative with minimal supervision \n
- Strong team player with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, proactive and fast-paced environment \n
Desirable Criteria

- Previous customer service experience, including catering, would be advantageous \n
- Ability to liaise effectively with other retail staff to ensure a high level of communication and coordination of activities \n
- Food Allergen Awareness certification or knowledge of allergen management within a catering environment \n
