Job Overview: Are you a proactive and dynamic leader with a passion for transport, logistics, and operational excellence? We are looking for an experienced and motivated Regional Transport Supervisor to join our growing transport team. Based in Hull, this role will also provide operational oversight and support to our Cleckheaton operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of transport operations across both sites, while leading and supporting drivers and transport colleagues to deliver exceptional service standards. This is a hands‑on operational role requiring flexibility, strong leadership, and a commitment to maintaining compliance, safety, and high service levels within a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily transport operations to ensure all delivery schedules are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Support the management of transport activities across both Hull and Cleckheaton sites.
- Lead, motivate, and develop drivers and transport colleagues, promoting a positive and professional working environment.
- Monitor and optimise route planning to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and control costs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation, driver hours regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, and company policies.
- Liaise closely with fleet maintenance teams to ensure vehicle roadworthiness, servicing schedules, and defect reporting processes are maintained.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including Customer Services, Fleet Maintenance, Product Teams, and regional offices to ensure effective operational communication and service delivery.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, delays, and escalations in a timely and professional manner.
- Support transport planning and resource allocation to meet changing operational demands.
- Ensure all transport operations are conducted in line with company health & safety procedures and industry best practice.
- Maintain accurate transport records, reports, and operational documentation.
- Be part of the regional on‑call rota, covering every other weekend.
- Travel regularly between Hull and Cleckheaton sites as required to support operational needs.
- Work a shift pattern in line with business requirements.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience within a transport, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
- Good IT skills, including experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility to work shifts and participate in the on‑call rota.
- A full UK driving licence (PSV licence desirable but not essential).
- A proactive and adaptable approach with a strong focus on customer service and operational performance.
