About the Role

Do you have the relevant skills and/or previous experience in a similar role? Do you have a good understanding, or are prepared to learn, about the needs of older people? If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!

We currently have a vacancy for a part time Scheme Cook at our very sheltered housing development at Canal Street, Perth where we provide a professional housing support service to our tenants to help them live as independently as possible in their own homes. The service provides lunch and dinner to approximately 6 tenants so previous experience in a similar role or of cooking for a similar number of people is essential, as is an understanding of adapting menus to meet the needs of people with differing dietary requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for all food preparation, ensuring foods are stored safely, clean up after service and ensuring the kitchen is clean and tidy and meets legal standards at all times. You must possess an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or be prepared to attend training to acquire this.

Normal days and hours of work are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 6 hour shifts between 11:30 and 18:00 but these may vary slightly depending on the needs of the service. There will also be some additional hours available Tuesday - Friday if agreeable.

This service at Canal Street is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide housing support to older people so meal provision within the service must meet the Health and Social Care Standards of Scotland. Therefore, the successful candidate also must be prepared to:

  • Join the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme run by Disclosure Scotland. Caledonia Housing Association will meet the cost of this.
  • Attend/complete any training which is required to ensure that the dietary requirements and nutritional needs of every tenant are being met or which the organisation identifies as being necessary to ensure that the service meets the Health and Social Care Standards.

As a Caledonia Housing Group employee, you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits:

  • 36 days annual leave, increasing with service
  • Promotion of work-life balance and flexi-time system
  • Sector leading pension scheme, matched up to 12% by us
  • Salary sacrifice schemes for pension, electric vehicle leasing & cycle to work
  • FREE membership of a healthcare cash plan, including cover for dependents
  • Wellbeing services offering support and confidential advice when you need it most

Closing date for receipt of completed applications is midnight on Sunday 16th August 2026. We do reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. Suitable candidates will be interviewed as applications are received.
