Agency Overview: Throughout the entirety of the Town of Caledon, Caledon Community Services (CCS) is helping shape the future of a caring and engaged Caledon community. Our social service programs address community needs in a uniquely challenging and increasingly diverse GTA community.

Position Overview: Working in close collaboration with Health Services staff, the Driver, Transportation Services contributes to the ability of individuals to continue living in their own residence and in the community by providing safe, courteous, and efficient transportation services.

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:

  • Adheres to the driving schedule assigned by the scheduler, transporting clients safely and courteously to and from their destinations.
  • Performs thorough vehicle safety inspection prior to departure, noting and immediately reporting any concerns or deficiencies to the Manager or designate.
  • Maintains regular communication with scheduling staff throughout each shift, reporting problems, concerns, or updates.
  • Provides excellent customer service and public relations to clients.
  • Completes all required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Complies with all Health and Safety Regulations, Ontario Traffic Safety Act, MTO Regulations and Agency policies and procedures.
  • Drives in all weather conditions.
  • Other duties as required including coverage of Stand-By Driver when program is experiencing staff shortage, picking up supplies and shuttling buses to and from service.

Core Job Posting Requirements/Criteria:

  • Education/Requirements: High School Diploma. Must possess a B, C, E, or F license and have a satisfactory driving record. Access to a personal device (smart phone or tablet) is required for periodic, two-factor authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator App when signing into CCS networks/cloud environment as part of I.T. security protocols. Clean Criminal Records Check – Vulnerable Sector.
  • Nature of Experience Required: Minimum 3 years experience driving commercial fleet vehicles or buses.
  • Knowledge Required: Knowledge of the Caledon/ Region of Peel area roads/routes is an asset.
  • Skills Required: Able to maneuver and handle objects weighing up to 70 kg. Tact and diplomacy. Willing and able to work flexible hours. Ability and confidence to drive safely in variable weather conditions. MSO 365 (web) applications.
