We are looking for a motivated Supervisor Trainee for our UK branch, located in Ellesmere Port. This position is ideal for someone who wants to develop into a professional within industrial construction and site supervision in a hands-on work environment. As a trainee supervisor, you will work alongside experienced supervisors, learn to participate in daily planning and coordination, and help ensure that all tasks are completed safely, with high quality, and on schedule. Responsibilities
- Take part in supervisor training in multiple sites in Europe.
- Work in customer projects as an installer to learn the installing methods and tasks.
- Participate in project planning by:
- Contributing to develop risk assessments
- Creating lists of materials and material calculation
- Contact with suppliers and subcontractors
- Making POs
- Freights
- Staffing
Responsibilities And Duties In The Work Environment
The supervisor plays a central role in ensuring practical occupational safety and wellbeing at work. They must identify deficiencies, ensure a reasonable and balanced workload, and verify that laws and regulations are followed. The supervisor must complete both the client’s and Calderys’ safety and work environment trainings. They are also responsible for ensuring that technicians have completed the required trainings.
Personnel related duties:
- Do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour or harassment (any cases must be reported to the manager).
- Pay attention to potential issues such as substance abuse risks and report them when necessary.
- Ensure that personal protective equipment is used correctly and that tools and machines are operated safely.
Administrative duties:
- Report accidents and near-miss incidents immediately according to instructions.
- Report sick leaves to work scheduling and project management.
- Ensure that only qualified personnel perform specific tasks (hot work, forklift operation, overhead cranes, fall protection tasks).
- In coordination with the customer, it is particularly important that the supervisor comply with laws and safety procedures.
- The supervisor ensures that the work site is orderly, machines are inspected, and any defective equipment is marked with a red tag.
Requirements
Education
- Basic Technical Education, Such As Vocational qualification in construction, mechanical engineering, or process technology.
- Other industrial or technical vocational training.
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of construction, industrial processes and site operations.
- Ability to read technical drawings and work specifications (can be learned during training).
- Understanding of materials and work methods, especially those related to refractory (will be learned during training).
- Basic skills in the safe use of tools and machinery.
- English language skills, both written and spoken (important for safety instructions, documentation, and communication).
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, AutoCad).
Supervisory competencies
- Strong communication and leadership skills and willingness to lead a work crew.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to see the overall picture of the worksite.
- Ability to make decisions and take responsibility.
- Problem-solving skills in fast-changing conditions.
- Ability to document work, including daily logs, reporting, and timekeeping.
