We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager with significant experience in delivering a wide range of highway or regeneration projects to join Calderdale Council’s Regeneration and Strategy Directorate. Our priorities as a council are to reduce inequalities, build strong thriving towns and places, deliver climate action and be a sustainable and effective Council. As a Senior Project Manager you will play a leading role in the development and delivery of complex, multi-million pound capital projects creating real change for local people from day one. We are delivering a capital portfolio of hundreds of millions of pounds as part of ‘Calderdale The Next Chapter’.

You will play an essential part in the oversight, management and delivery of projects within the Major Projects Service at Calderdale Council that stimulate regeneration and economic growth across the borough and wider West Yorkshire region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of complex capital projects within the Major Projects Service, including highways and regeneration schemes.
  • Provide strategic direction, governance, and senior stakeholder engagement to ensure projects meet requirements, time, and budget.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage risks and issues, and monitor project performance against programme objectives.
  • Ensure value for money and alignment with Calderdale Council’s priorities and the Calderdale The Next Chapter programme.
  • Report to senior leaders and elected members as required and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering highway or regeneration projects.
  • Proven ability to oversee, manage and deliver complex capital projects and programmes.

We have an opportunity in the Highways and Infrastructure Team. Projects include: A629 Phase 2 Halifax Town Centre; A641 Improvement Scheme; Elland Access Package. Closing Date: Sunday 21st September 2025. Interview Date: TBC (intended w/c 6th October 2025). We may utilise digital interview methods.
