Overview
Through our waste contract with Calderdale Council SUEZ has made a commitment to set up a re‑use shop on our Brighouse Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) to resell donated items.
Responsibilities
- Merchandise stock, organising, preparing, pricing and presenting donations for sale to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage stock and communicate to the re‑use manager what stock the shop needs delivering.
- Operate the cash register, count and reconcile cash and credit card receipts, process returns and refunds.
- Ensure goods are sold at appropriate value and all rejected items are disposed of appropriately.
- Arrange collections and deliveries in an efficient and cost‑effective manner.
- Maintain the security of the shop premises, stock and cash.
- Promote the values of the shop and the charitable nature of the re‑use scheme.
- Provide an excellent customer experience to encourage repeat custom and the smooth, profitable running of the shop.
Qualifications
- Passionate about the environment and interested in the re‑use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or a willingness to rapidly develop it, and an understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising and handling the financial aspects of retail.
- Flexible attitude to work shift and weekend hours.
- Confidence to initially work alone in the re‑use shop until volunteers are recruited.
- Excellent teamwork skills, working closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
- Willingness to be part of the site operative team when not required in the re‑use shop.
