The Public Health Team works to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the citizens of Calderdale and help address health inequalities. Public Health Intelligence professionals provide information that\’s essential both for identifying issues that have a negative effect on people’s health, and for planning to deal with those issues.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship combining a level 7 qualification with on-the-job experiential learning. As well as developing your technical skills you will also develop leadership skills so that by the end of the apprenticeship you should be competent to lead and oversee analytical teams.

You will undertake a 22-month Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Apprenticeship where 20% of worktime will be dedicated to apprenticeship learning (remotely) with training provider JGA Group. As part of the apprenticeship, you will undertake a series of placements in neighbouring local authorities as well as UK Health Security Agency and the NHS to develop your competency as an analytical professional.

You will have an interest in developing your career in Public Health Intelligence, plus either a relevant degree, Level 4 or higher qualification in STEM or a related field, Professional registration with FEDIP through the Association of Healthcare Analysts (AphA) at Practitioner or Senior Practitioner level or equivalent analytical work experience. Applicants who already have all the knowledge and skills covered in the Apprenticeship will not be eligible for this post.

You must be in a position to start the post by December at the latest due to apprenticeship provider deadlines.

Appropriate right to work must be in place at the time of application to the post. We are unable to offer sponsorship.

  • Be aged 16 or older at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of their right to work in the UK. If they are not a UK or EEA citizen, they must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.
  • Meet the essential qualification criteria in the role profile and be able to provide original qualification certificates at interview.
  • Do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same or closely related field to the apprenticeship they are applying for. It must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualifications already held.
