The Conservative Group is seeking a political assistant.

This is a part-time post of three days per week.

The position will involve a mix of home and office-based working, plus some evening attendance at meetings (virtual and in person).

Key responsibilities will include:-

  • Supporting and advising the group on key developments
  • Research, monitoring and information on local issues
  • Appraising group leadership of significant issues being considered by officers
  • Supporting group members with information, advice and complex casework issues
  • Providing reports and briefings as requested by group leadership
  • Drafting and issuing press releases and preparing replies to routine correspondence
  • General administration and support duties

Please note that this is a politically restricted post under the Local Government Act 1989.
