To manage, develop, and support management information systems across Education, Inclusion and Learning Children’s Services, ensuring accurate data, statutory compliance, and effective insights that support education and safeguarding objectives. This role supports the Corporate Performance and Business Intelligence Team at Calderdale Council in the launch of Vision 2034, developing data and systems to improve education and safeguarding.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the service area to plan, design, create, amend, and verify reports.
- Provide project management for effective project delivery, including system installations.
- Develop and distribute effective communications using a range of tools to educate, engage and inform the service on the use and maintenance of educational data.
- Maintain robust data and systems in adherence to GDPR policy and procedures, and develop and maintain an information-sharing agreement with schools and external partners.
- Review the current reporting offering within MRI to ensure it meets the Council’s needs, and undertake a gap analysis of additional reporting required for Education, Inclusion and Learning Children’s Services across Calderdale.
- Build relationships with teams and services to ensure the system is used to its full capacity.
- Utilise MS 365 to its full potential in support of the MRI system.
- Have a working knowledge of data warehousing with a medium-term plan to input Education, Inclusion and Learning Children’s Services data into the corporate data warehouse.
- Support and develop Directorate responses required for external inspections, internal self-assessments and completion of statutory returns (e.g. Ofsted/SEND Inspection).
- Support Directors, Assistant Directors/Heads of Service and Senior Managers in establishing directorate priorities and developing new systems and processes that improve performance using available recording tools and functionality.
- Clean, validate, and quality-check school data collected for local authority level purposes; assist schools with statutory data submissions (e.g. School Census, end-of-Key-Stage assessments, exclusions, attendance and SEND), utilising the system to provide best value for money for the organisation.
- Generate and analyse management information on school performance, participation statistics, and attendance trends; prepare monthly and quarterly reports for internal and council officers.
- Have a working knowledge of WONDE, B2B and other file transfer systems.
- Have a working knowledge of MS Power BI, SQL and PL/SQL, and an understanding of artificial intelligence, relational databases, and data warehousing/lakes.
- Provide high standards of customer care, uphold the Equality and Diversity Policy, support digital engagement, and maintain health and safety.
- Support team development and provide expertise to build capability across the wider organisation and with external partners.
