Overview
The Risk and Assurance Manager role is part of the wider Internal Audit, Risk Management and Insurance Team at Calderdale Council, charged with ensuring that the local authority operates efficiently and effectively, meeting its statutory requirements on the use of its resources and delivering services that improve the lives of the people who live and work here. The post holder will lead on developing and implementing the council’s risk management framework, ensuring risks are effectively identified, monitored and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities
- You will lead on risk reporting to senior management, committees and external stakeholders, while monitoring compliance with governance frameworks and providing assurance that the council is managing its risks effectively and meeting statutory and regulatory requirements.
- As the Risk and Assurance Manager you will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and embedding the council’s risk management strategy and policies while providing expert advice and guidance on risk and assurance matters to services and projects.
- This will include responsibility for providing leadership and training to both staff within the team and across the council, and Members where applicable, regarding risk management and assurance.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate would be an experienced risk management and governance professional, used to leading and providing support on risk management and assurance matters to time and quality, and willing to continue learning every day. They should be a team player who treats others with kindness and care, whilst maintaining appropriate scepticism and standards.
