We’re offering a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is keen to start a career in Environmental Health by becoming a Regulatory Compliance Officer within the Housing Discipline of Environmental Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of housing functions, working alongside a team of professional and technical staff, inspecting dwellings and protecting vulnerable tenants and residents whilst tackling some non-compliant landlords. Successful candidates will also ensure that migrants and asylum-seekers have access to safe and suitable accommodation. This role is part of the wider Community Protection Team, with potential to contribute across several regulatory activities. Training will be provided to complete any required housing-based qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver day-to-day housing functions as part of a team of professional and technical staff.
  • Inspect dwellings, protect vulnerable tenants and residents, and address non-compliant landlords.
  • Ensure migrants and asylum-seekers have access to safe and suitable accommodation.
  • Work within the wider Community Protection Team and contribute to resilience and interoperability across regulatory activities.
  • Collaborate closely with statutory, voluntary, and community sector partners.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ability to show aptitude for this type of work.
  • Keen to start a career in Environmental Health and willing to complete short-duration housing-based qualifications (training provided).
  • Strong teamwork orientation and commitment to improving housing conditions within the borough.
  • Ability to participate in enforcement and education efforts as part of a forward-looking service.
