We are inviting a professional, friendly and customer-focused Monitoring Officer to join our Direct Payment Monitoring team, part of the System and Finance service within Integrated Commissioning and Partnerships at Calderdale Council. The team supports the Adults and Children's Social Care directorates and ensures that Direct Payments are monitored in line with support plans. The role requires the initiation of a yearly monitoring process, requesting evidence and cross‑referencing it against support plans, to confirm that spending is appropriate and accounted for.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals or their representatives who receive Direct Payments, requesting the necessary documentation to complete annual monitoring.
  • Reconcile accounts to confirm that spending aligns with the individuals' support plans.
  • Provide advice, support and information on the Direct Payments monitoring function to individuals or their representatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Direct Payment, Care Charging, Financial Assessment and Sundry Income teams.
  • Maintain initiative, meet deadlines and pay high attention to detail in all duties.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 qualification in a relevant financial area or demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the adult social care financial assessment process and its relationship to Direct Payments.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, colleagues and partners.
  • Self‑management ability to handle workload in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Applicants for posts exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will need to provide a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before appointment.
