We are looking for an experienced and motivated HR Advisor to join our HR Advisory Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a CIPD-qualified HR professional, or someone with substantial HR advisory experience, to provide high-quality, business-focused HR support across a diverse range of services, schools, and external customers.

Working as part of a professional HR team, you will advise managers on complex employee relations matters, support organisational change projects, develop policies, and contribute to the delivery of an efficient and customer-focused HR service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional HR advice and support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance management, and performance issues.
  • Support managers through formal meetings, hearings, and organisational change processes attending as a HR representative.
  • Lead on support to Directorates for restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE projects across the Council.
  • Support the development and review of HR policies, procedures, and guidance in line with employment legislation and best practice.
  • Build effective relationships with managers, schools, trade unions, and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver training, workshops, and coaching to improve people management capability.
  • Use workforce data and analytics to support workforce planning and service improvement.
  • Keep up to date of developments in employment law and HR practice, ensuring advice remains accurate.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) or significant demonstrable experience working in an HR Advisor role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations casework.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers.
  • The ability to analyse workforce data and provide practical business-focused solutions.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.

This role is based in the UK. Home Office guidance states that candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
