A great opportunity has arisen to join the Family Group Conference (FGC) Team within Calderdale. The team is part of Calderdale’s Early Help & Targeted Support. The postholder will be responsible for delivering high‑quality Family Group Conferences in Calderdale, bringing together families, extended family members, friends and service providers to agree safe plans for children, young people and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate Family Group Conferences, facilitating the participation of all family members and service providers.
  • Encourage family decision making and responsibility for children and young people by negotiating and discussing support within their family network.
  • Ensure conferences are strengths‑ and solutions‑focused, promoting family‑led decision making and valuing relationships.

Qualifications

  • Creative and flexible facilitator with strong listening skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working holistically and restoratively with emotional and often vulnerable families.
  • Demonstrated belief in family‑led decision making and the value of relationships.
  • High degree of independence, initiative and expertise in this arena.
  • DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service required for employment, where applicable.
