Calderdale Council plays a vital role in improving life chances for the borough's residents. Our work is guided by three core priorities: reducing deprivation and inequality, creating sustainable towns, and responding to the climate emergency. The Community Safety Partnership manages CONTEST and Prevent function which sits firmly within this agenda, supporting our ambition to build fairer, safer and more resilient communities.

CONTEST sets out a comprehensive approach to reducing the risk of terrorism, structured around four strands: Prevent (stopping people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism), Pursue (detecting and disrupting terrorist activity), Protect (strengthening protection against attack), and Prepare (mitigating the impact of attacks where they do occur). The Contest Team plays a critical upstream role within this framework, focusing on early intervention, safeguarding and community partnership to address the factors that can lead to radicalisation and build foundations for more resilient communities.

The Community Protection Team is seeking to appoint a Business Support Assistant to support it in its safeguarding duties. The role will support the Council's response to the Contest agenda in line with Channel and Home Office Guidance. This will include planning and co-ordination of meetings and events, booking venues, circulating agenda papers, minute taking, and ensuring any follow up actions arising from meetings are progressed.

  • Accurate, concise minute taking of decisions and actions
  • Knowledge of Prevent duty, Channel process and multi agency working
  • Excellent written communication and active listening skills
  • Strong confidentiality, information handling and GDPR awareness
  • Organised, reliable and able to work with sensitive information under pressure
