About the Role

Calderdale Council is looking for an Appointee and Deputy Team Leader to lead a specialist team responsible for managing the financial affairs, benefits, property and assets of vulnerable adults who are unable to manage these themselves.

Responsibilities

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will combine team leadership, financial oversight, safeguarding, risk management and statutory compliance. You will oversee complex Appointee and Deputy cases, support staff with high‑risk decisions, and ensure client finances are managed safely, lawfully and in each person’s best interests.

Qualifications and Experience

You will need to be confident working with legislation, procedures and financial controls, and able to deal with sensitive situations calmly, professionally and with empathy. We are looking for someone with strong financial judgement, excellent organisational skills and experience of supervising, supporting or managing staff. Experience in Appointeeship or Deputyship is an advantage, but transferable experience managing complex financial responsibilities involving client funds, benefits, income, expenditure, property, assets or financial safeguarding is also welcome.

Requirements

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with an adults’ barred list check. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is required, although adjustments can be considered for candidates with a disability.

Work Conditions

This role is based in the UK. Candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment, either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or by having secured any other relevant work visa.
