Job Description

Calderdale Residential Service continues to thrive and, as we go through further development, we are looking to recruit staff to work in one of our Homes within the borough (3 Bed Maximum) to provide care and support to Children and Young People aged 8-18. In line with Ofsted stipulations, candidates must be over the age of 21. We are looking for staff to work in one of Calderdale’s Residential Childrens Homes who has experience of working in environments with Children & Young People who have experienced Trauma. You will have flexibility to undertake different shift patterns based on the needs and demands of the rota that will predominantly include weekend working.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that promotes high standards of care working in a fast-paced environment placed alongside experienced staff and aspirational Managers in protecting individual needs, promoting education and ensuring that all matters related to physical and emotional health are fully met.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with Children and Young People
  • Keep young people safe & make informed decisions to safeguarding others
  • Ensure Children & Young People’s needs are holistically met
  • Support Children and Young People make informative decisions around their life
  • Respond swiftly to the need of Children & Young People
  • Undertake administrative tasks using IT
  • Compose reports for and on behalf of Children & Young People
  • Manage and overcome challenging situations
  • Work in a Team consistently towards a common goal
  • Committed to Mandatory, Formal and Informal Learning
  • Experience of building relationships with young people and connecting to their needs ensuring that they feel listened to and understood
  • Must be motivated, energetic, charismatic, enthusiastic and have a sincere ambition for Children & Young People, Self & Colleagues, to thrive

Qualifications

  • Must have a UK driving licence and held a Category B Licence for at least 2 years
  • Must have a Level 3/4 qualification in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, or have a willingness to work towards and achieve within 2 years of employment

Additional Expectations

  • You will be expected to role model positive parenting behaviours with the ability to form relationships and connect with Young People
  • Advocate and consult with professionals on behalf of the young person sharing setbacks and successes and willing to undertake tasks in ever changing circumstances and play a key role within a wider team
