We\'re looking for a friendly and customer-focused person to join our supportive Registration team. This is a career-graded role, which means we\'ll help you build your skills and progress over time. What will you be doing?

  1. Welcome people to our service and provide helpful, empathetic customer support.
  2. Help with administrative tasks such as booking appointments and issuing certificates.
  3. Support with reception duties and take payments for services.
  4. Use our systems to handle sensitive information accurately and in line with legal standards.
  5. Register births, deaths, stillbirths, and marriages or civil partnerships.
  6. Conduct and assist with ceremonies, including citizenship events.
  7. Handle notices of marriage and work with customers in more complex or emotional situations.

We\'re not expecting you to be fully trained from day one - we\'re more interested in your approach, attitude and potential. You\'ll need:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A calm, respectful and tactful approach, especially during emotional conversations.
  • Good attention to detail and confident use of IT systems.

As you progress, we will support you to achieve the Level 3 Customer Service qualification and Nationally Accredited Qualification for Registrars.

Additional Information

  • The role is based at the Halifax Register Office, with work at other venues in Calderdale as needed - some without lift access.
  • You\'ll work 37 hours over 5 days per week, including some Saturdays.
  • The role involves access to confidential personal data and requires a Standard DBS and BPSS check.
