Calderdale College is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Pastoral and Safeguarding Officer to join our 14-16 Team. As part of a small team, you will provide tailored educational, emotional and behavioural support to students on the Early College Transfer (ECT) programme. Many of our students are neurodivergent or on the pathway to diagnosis and as such the transition into college can be quite daunting. You will play a major role in supporting students prior to joining their course and throughout their time in College and onto the next steps. Many of our learners have had negative experiences in education and part of the role is helping them to overcome barriers this has presented.
You will also be responsible for supporting the wellbeing of learners on the ECT programme in terms of providing pastoral support through the admissions process and on programme. This will include working with parents/carers and schools to establish strategies to support our students in order for them to achieve and reach their full potential both in college and with their future aspirations.
You will also take the lead on all safeguarding matters within the unit and be an integral part of the central safeguarding team.
