CHS are recruiting for a number of Transport Services drivers to complement the current team. Working to agreed competencies and protocols, the post holder will contribute to providing a high quality transport service to Acute and Community Services and clients throughout the Calderdale and Kirklees area. The post holder will be working under the supervision (not always direct) of the operations manager. This will involve taking responsibility for an identified and delegated workload.
Work will be carried out both from an Acute setting to a variety of community based settings, e.g. HRI/CRH, Health Centres, Dentists, Opticians, the service users home, residential care or other community venues. Please note whilst this role is predominantly based in the Transport department, there may be a requirement in the future to work across all Facility services, which include Portering/Linen, Domestics, Catering, Transport/Equipment and other support services.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful candidate will join the Transport Services team to include all aspects of transport, deliveries and collections.
- Duties include but are not limited to: first user vehicle checks, transportation of equipment, samples, patients and staff and any other request deemed suitable as well as completion of relevant tracking forms, general upkeep of the vehicles including cleaning and day to day maintenance of vehicles (oil, water, DEF etc).
Successful applicants will need to undertake a drivers assessment and have no more than 6 points on their licence.

Pension:
Automatic enrolment into the NEST pension scheme Contributions: 5% from the employee and 3% from the employer.
Sickness:
No pay for the first working day of absence. During the first year of service: statutory sickness payment only. More than 1 year and up to 2 years of service: 4 weeks full pay + 4 weeks half pay. Over 2 years: 6 weeks full pay + 6 weeks half pay.
Maternity:
Full pay - 8 weeks (2 months) Half pay - 18 weeks (4 months) + SMP then: SMP only - 13 weeks (3 months).
Job responsibilities:
- To provide transport to and from both main hospital sites.
- Deliver mail throughout the Kirklees and Calderdale area, including Path Lab results/specimens & mail.
- To deliver medical and non-medical supplies.
- Deliver & collect equipment to & from service users homes, clinics and other sites.
- Transporting of staff via our shuttle service.
- Sample transportation.

Knowledge & Skills:
- Driving license which includes driving category D1 and CPC training.
- Numerate, able to manage time.
- Organisational skills.

Experience:
- Previous commercial driving experience.
