We provide services to a wide range of sectors from power generation to working on the UK's biggest reservoirs and bridges. Calder Lifting Services provides specialist contract lifting and mechanical support to major UK companies working in complex conditions both at height and in confined spaces across the North of England. Calder Lifting Services base is in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, not far from Leeds. From here we operate locally and up and down the country. Occasionally, in this role you will be required to work away.
As a Mechanical Engineer/Fitter/Fabricator, your tasks will be to assist with contract lifting, completing essential maintenance on shutdowns/outages or completing machine moving or machine & overhead crane installations. There will also be regular LOLER examinations and repairs to complete for customers and we also have our own workshop/hire equipment that requires regular maintenance.
About you
- An NVQ in Mechanical Engineering, fabrication, Fitter or a related field.
- A valid UK drivers’ licence.
- Experience working as Mechanical Engineer/Fitter/Fabricator.
- You must be able to work to a high standard, have a customer-focussed approach to your work and strong attention to detail.
- Proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to ensuring the highest levels of equipment reliability.
- Good English communication skills are essential – both verbal and written.
- Happy to work away from home occasionally for a couple of nights or a week at a time.
Plus, any of the following training/qualifications would be desirable, but not essential, we will provide this training if needed: IPAF, Fork Truck, CSCS cards, safety passport, Work at height, confined space training.
