I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a well‑established civil engineering and infrastructure services contractor with an excellent reputation for safety, quality and technical delivery. They are now seeking a proactive and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join their growing team.

My client delivers essential infrastructure solutions across reactive civils, utilities and drainage programmes. They are committed to best‑in‑class safety, continuous improvement and quality assurance while fostering an environment where people are supported to develop and succeed. The SHEQ department plays a key role in embedding these values across everything they do.

As the SHEQ Advisor, you will support and advise operational teams on all aspects of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), ensuring legal, regulatory and company standards are met. This is a hands‑on, visible role requiring travel to sites throughout the Southeast to influence behaviours and drive a culture of continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert SHEQ support and guidance to operational teams
  • Conduct audits, inspections and SHEQ assurance checks across sites
  • Support incident investigations, including reporting and corrective actions
  • Produce SHE reports, briefings and performance updates
  • Deliver SHEQ inductions, toolbox talks and learning materials
  • Attend internal and client SHEQ meetings
  • Review risk assessments and management systems to maintain compliance
  • Identify risks, recommend improvements and support implementation
  • Maintain up-to-date SHEQ documentation and standards
  • Influence positive safety culture and engage teams at all levels
Skills & Experience
  • Proven SHEQ experience in construction, utilities or related industry
  • Solid understanding of SHEQ legislation, ISO standards and best practice
  • Qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate level (or equivalent)
  • Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to influence and engage operational teams effectively
  • Competent in using SHEQ management systems and reporting tools
  • Full, clean UK driving licence (required)
