About Us
Calbarrie Compliance Services Ltd provides electrical safety testing and compliance services across the UK, covering fixed installations, portable appliance testing, emergency lighting, thermal imaging and remedial works. Calbarrie works across facilities management, retail, commercial, education and local authority sectors, with a strong focus on repeat business and long-term client relationships.
About the Role
We are looking for Fixed Wire Test Engineers to join our team, working from a home base in North Yorkshire, Sheffield, Bristol or Northampton and the surrounding areas. The role involves the inspection and testing of commercial fixed wire installations and distribution boards. You will work solely on commercial sites, including facilities management, retail, commercial, education, councils and local authorities. We do not carry out domestic housing work.
You will use our bespoke testing software, built with engineer input over a number of years and designed entirely around speed and efficiency of testing. If you have ideas to improve it further, we want to hear them, and feedback is regularly built into future updates. A method statement is agreed with the client before you arrive on site, so expectations are clear from the outset. We focus on larger sites and bigger jobs wherever possible, giving engineers the opportunity to stay on site longer and earn more. Work is organised on a regional basis, so while we try to reduce travel time where we can, we are not able to guarantee work will always be local. You are contracted to 40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities available for those looking to earn more. There may be occasions when out of hours or weekend work is required depending on client access and site type.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out electrical periodic inspection and testing of fixed wire installations
- Completing minor remedial works where required
- Producing accurate NICEIC reports to be quality checked by our Technical Manager
- Working closely with the Technical Manager and Operations team
- Using our bespoke testing software, designed for speed and efficiency
- Working across facilities management, retail, commercial, education and local authority sites
- Helping identify ways to improve testing software and processes
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- A recognised electrical qualification, C&G 2391 or equivalent, preferably as a time served electrician or tester
- AM2 or NVQ Level 3 qualified
- 18th Edition qualification
- Proven experience testing through and through, on commercial sites rather than domestic housing
- A proven ability to work safely in accordance with company policies and safety legislation
- Dedication to keep up to date with current legislation and undertake training as required
Join Us
You’ll be joining a business that invests heavily in the tools engineers use every day, with bespoke software built and continually improved around speed and efficiency of testing. We focus on larger sites and bigger jobs, giving engineers the opportunity to grow their earnings, and there is genuine scope to progress as the business continues to expand.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £36,000 - £39,000 basic depending on location (£39,000 inside the M25 and home counties, £36,000 in all other areas), along with:
- Bonus of £2 per circuit for 45+ circuits, rising to £3 per circuit for 58+ circuits
- Overtime paid at £3 per circuit from the 1st circuit for weekend work and hours over 40 per week
- Pension
- 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, including the Christmas shutdown
- Hybrid company car
- Kit and clothing provided
