The Director of Engineering will play a crucial role within Calastone\’s Engineering Team, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. This role involves driving technical excellence, leading high-performing teams, and delivering high-quality products for Calastone\’s Asset Management and Asset Servicing platforms. Own the development and growth of a team of engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement. Provide structured guidance, hands-on mentoring, and candid feedback to support professional growth and team development. Identify and nurture emerging engineering talent within the team to ensure continuity of leadership and technical excellence. Drive the successful delivery of projects and products, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality, and technical standards. Champion engineering best practices, including Agile methodologies, version control, continuous integration, and test-driven development. Apply expertise in key technologies (C#, Angular, Microsoft Azure, enterprise messaging systems) to lead innovation and address technical debt. Ensure technical documentation, operational readiness, and performance testing are maintained. Work with Product, Operations, and Commercial teams to achieve business goals. Take an active role in the out-of-hours on-call rota to provide an escalation point for the engineering support teams. Ensure appropriate structures and practices are in place to provide continuity of engineering support across the product portfolio. Participate in root-cause analysis and long-term remediation of production incidents. Extensive experience leading software development teams with a strong execution track record. Deep technical expertise in C#, Angular, Microsoft Azure, enterprise messaging systems and modern database systems. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and secure software development practices. Preferably with experience of the Asset Management industry and fundamental associated concepts.
