Join our team at the Calanais Visitor Centre as a Cleaning Operative and help us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our visitors and staff. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking individual who takes pride in their work and has excellent attention to detail.

We are looking for a Cleaning Operative to helpmaintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentationthroughout the Calanais Visitor Centre. Role Purpose

The Cleaning Operative will play an important role inensuring that the Calanais Visitor Centre provides a clean, safe and welcomingenvironment for our visitors and staff.

The role will involve cleaning across all areas of theVisitor Centre as required, with duties and priorities varying depending onoperational needs. The successful candidate will be expected to workindependently, take pride in maintaining high standards and identify and reportany cleaning, maintenance or safety issues.

This is a permanent, part-time position. Hours will varyseasonally, with 9 hours per week from April to September and 8 hours per weekfrom October to March.

Working hours will be over Monday to Saturday and willgenerally be scheduled either in the early morning before the Visitor Centreopens or in the evening after closing.

Reports to: Visitor Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleanpublic, staff and operational areas in line with cleaning schedules andoperational requirements.
  • Vacuum,sweep, mop, and maintain floors and surfaces to a high standard.
  • Cleanand sanitise toilets and washrooms, replenishing consumables as required.
  • Emptywaste and recycling bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Carryout deep-cleaning tasks and clean internal windows and glass surfaces whenrequired.
  • Undertakecleaning of entrance and external areas, including litter picking wherenecessary.
  • Usecleaning products and equipment safely, following COSHH and health and safetyprocedures.
  • Followlone-working, keyholding and alarm procedures where applicable.
  • Reportmaintenance issues, hazards or damage promptly.
  • Monitorcleaning supplies and advise when stock replenishment is required.
  • Supportadditional cleaning requirements during busy periods, events or operationalneeds.

Essential Skills andExperience

  • Abilityto maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
  • Abilityto work independently and manage cleaning tasks effectively within the timeavailable.
  • Reliableand able to work Monday- Saturday, early mornings or evenings as required.
  • Goodcommunication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a widerteam.
  • Anunderstanding of the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Abilityto follow cleaning procedures, product instructions and COSHH requirements.
  • Abilityto undertake the physical requirements of the role, including standing,bending, lifting and carrying associated with normal cleaning duties.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previousexperience in a commercial, hospitality, visitor attraction or similar cleaningrole.
  • Previousexperience of lone working and/or keyholding responsibilities.
  • Knowledgeof COSHH and safe working practices.
