This 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position will provide continuity of People Business Partner support to the business. The role will establish trusted relationships with Directors and managers, support delivery of agreed People priorities, and provide a first-class People team service throughout the maternity cover period.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables:
- Provide maternity cover for the People Business Partner role, ensuring seamless delivery of people support, advice and key initiatives across Regional and Group responsibilities.
- Partner with Directors to build organisational capability and deliver people strategies aligned to business priorities.
- Develop and implement People policies in line with employment legislation and best practice.
- Lead fair and inclusive recruitment processes, promoting balanced selection and reducing bias.
- Provide expert employee relations and employment law advice, managing complex casework and high-risk people matters.
- Obtain external legal advice where and advise on legal risk, compliance and organisational change.
- Support organisational design, succession planning and talent development across the business.
- Coach and develop managers, delivering practical toolkits and guidance to strengthen leadership capability.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to address people challenges and drive business performance.
- Support regional teams to ensure employees have the skills, resources and support needed to achieve objectives.
- Deliver agreed people initiatives, projects and change programmes, maintaining engagement and minimising business risk.
- Ensure People policies and procedures are applied consistently, legally and in line with Cala's culture and values.
- Build strong, credible relationships across the Group and act as a role model for Cala's values and behaviours.
- Ensure effective handover at the start and end of the maternity cover period, maintaining accurate records and clear updates on key people matters, risks, projects and stakeholder activity.
About You
- CIPD qualified and/or experienced in a People Business Partner role, with the ability to quickly understand business needs and provide effective maternity cover support.
- Able to build credibility and strong relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring continuity and influencing outcomes.
- Commercially focused, balancing business objectives with people needs when providing advice and solutions.
- Broad multi-site operational HR experience; experience within a similar-sized organisation would be advantageous.
- Strong project, time and workload management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver results.
- Resilient, proactive and self-motivated, with a flexible, can-do approach and the drive to see initiatives through to completion.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
- Able to coach, motivate and engage others, contributing positively as a collaborative team player.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
