About The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Surveying Manager will act as the lead Surveyor for designated developments within the region, with full commercial responsibility for costs, valuations, payments and financial performance. You will manage the commercial and financial performance of your developments across the full project lifecycle. This includes accurate cost control, forecasting and reporting, while monitoring site performance against budgets and financial targets to protect profitability. Working closely with Sales, Land, Construction, Technical teams and Architects, you will provide clear and timely cost reports and financial insights to support effective decision‑making. Accuracy, attention to detail and clear communication are essential. You will take full ownership of surveying responsibilities on your developments and support the wider Commercial team with financial reporting, cost management and profitability analysis where required. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced housebuilding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate cost estimates, budgets, forecasts and cost control measures
- Monitor site performance against approved budgets, forecasts and financial targets
- Prepare regular cost reports and financial updates to agreed deadlines
- Take full commercial ownership of assigned developments, including valuations and payments
- Support the Commercial team with financial reporting and profitability analysis
- Liaise with Sales, Land, Construction, Technical teams and external consultants
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide clear advice to the project team
- Ensure compliance with current standards, Building Regulations and internal procedures
- Contribute to accurate reporting and presentations for senior management
About You
You will be a commercially focused and detail‑oriented surveying professional with experience in a housebuilding environment. You will be confident managing your own developments while contributing positively to the wider Commercial team.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a similar role within a housebuilding environment
- Minimum HNC in Building Studies or a related discipline
- Strong commercial and financial management skills
Desirable
- Degree in Quantity Surveying
- RICS qualification or working towards chartership
- Experience managing multiple developments simultaneously
