Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, the Engineer will play a key role in supporting all design stages of each project. You will contribute to the delivery of projects from proposal through to completion, assisting in the development of technical solutions, preparing design documentation, and supporting coordination activities across the project lifecycle. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and external agencies, ensuring effective communication and helping to maintain positive working relationships. As part of the project team, you will contribute to meeting programme, quality, and technical requirements, and play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Effectively communicating technical advice to assist where required throughout the development process on engineering related matters, including the creation of Engineering Reports to assist in the acquisition of new development sites.
- Work with external consultants to ensure each development is optimised, delivered on programme and within budget.
- Ensure all risks and opportunities are rigorously investigated to ensure appraisals are robust and risk registers are regularly updated.
- Attend technical and site meetings to ensure there is a full overview of the project, and follow up on matters arising to ensure actions are completed.
- Offering innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems as they arise.
- Assist with statutory consents to ensure all necessary approvals are applied for and obtained in good time to ensure programme can be achieved.
- Monitor and ensure that planning conditions and legal agreements are complied with.
- Assist with Engineering and Utility Services support to other departments within the business, where required.
- Assist on elements of Civils and structural design, with the skills and knowledge to challenge elements of the design offered by the consultant team, to ensure we achieve practical, buildable and cost-effective solutions.
About You Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Keen interest and knowledge of industry innovations and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Preferably having an existing relationship with local authorities, SEPA and Scottish Water.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Creative flair and innovative approach to problem solving.
- Competent user of AutoCAD and Microsoft office packages.
- Effective prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Pro-active and driven with a real commitment to consensus and teamwork.
- Ability to communicate technical information, clearly and concisely.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Previous experience working with a Housebuilder/Consultant in a similar role with a minimum of 4-5 years’ experience.
- BSc Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
