Cala Consulting is recruiting a Service Engineer on behalf of a company who have a passion for delivering exceptional renewable energy solutions and offering innovative solutions including Solar PV, Battery Storage, and Heat Pumps.
The Role
As a Service Engineer, you will support the team with the servicing and commissioning of systems including heat pumps, underfloor heating, heat recovery ventilation, and solar thermal systems. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the high standards their clients expect. The Service Engineer will provide a continuous and dedicated level of after-sales support to existing clients, while also helping to establish and grow after-sales operations across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Hours of work: 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 4:00pm Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Office Manager to proactively schedule and coordinate 34 service visits per day, strategically grouped by location.
- Communicate directly with customers to arrange access, carry out services or callouts, and explain outcomes in a clear and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of all service visits, reporting on work undertaken (initially via written reports, with an app-based system to be developed).
- Provide comprehensive follow-up reports post-service for invoicing purposes.
- Support installation teams during peak periods, including installation of mechanical ventilation systems (full training provided).
- Assist with programming service jobs and ensure all necessary materials and spare parts are ordered ahead of visits.
- Undertake commissioning of new systems with training provided by manufacturers.
- Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to continuously improve service processes and tools.
- Contribute to product development and efficiency improvements through feedback and innovation.
- Respond to breakdowns during normal working hours and carry out thorough servicing of installed systems, including: Ground & Air Source Heat Pumps, Underfloor Heating Systems, Heat Recovery Ventilation Systems, Solar Thermal Systems, Heating Systems.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Ideally a fully qualified F-Gas Engineer with a background in renewables, air conditioning, or plumbing and heating for domestic properties.
- Experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues is essential, along with a strong understanding of system drawings and technical documentation.
- Highly organised, results-driven, and able to manage your workload independently while maintaining excellent communication with both colleagues and customers.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to produce service reports and site documentation.
- A proactive, problem-solver team player.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.
- A full UK driving licence is required and company vehicle is provided.
