Cala Consulting are recruiting for an experienced Technical Sales Executive to join a growing business supplying innovative and sustainable ventilation products across Northern Ireland. This permanent, field-based role is 40 hours per week and offers a competitive basic salary, performance-related bonus and company vehicle.
The Technical Sales Executive will drive profitable growth across the new-build housing and wider contract market. Managing a Northern Ireland territory, you will identify opportunities early, generate new business, develop existing accounts and progress projects from initial contact and specification through to order. Relationship building is a key element of the role. You will develop long-term partnerships with housebuilders, property developers, construction contractors, architects, M&E consultants and other specifiers. This will suit a proactive, customer-facing sales professional who is comfortable travelling, visiting sites, understanding technical requirements and becoming a trusted commercial partner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a focused territory sales strategy that drives profitable revenue growth, with particular emphasis on the new-build housing and contract market.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with housebuilders, developers, contractors, architects, M&E consultants, specifiers and other key decision-makers across Northern Ireland.
- Proactively identify new-build sites, developments and contract opportunities through market research, networking, direct outreach and regular site visits.
- Present the ventilation product range and technical solutions to architects, M&E consultants, other specifiers, housebuilders, contractors and developers, progressing projects through the supply chain.
- Manage and grow existing accounts while generating qualified leads, winning new customers and providing consistent follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
- Carry out site visits, interpret working drawings and plans, and work with technical colleagues to recommend appropriate systems that meet project requirements and relevant Building Regulations.
- Deliver product presentations and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, and represent the company professionally at exhibitions, trade shows and customer events.
- Prepare and negotiate commercially sound proposals, work with the internal team to secure profitable sales and maintain accurate CRM, pipeline and forecasting information.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A proven track record in field-based technical, specification or contract sales within ventilation, HVAC, building services, construction products, building materials, residential new build or a closely related sector.
- Relevant experience selling to, influencing or working closely with housebuilders, developers, contractors, architects, M&E consultants, specifiers or comparable construction-sector customers.
- Evidence of achieving sales targets, winning new business and developing accounts through strong, sustained customer relationships.
- An excellent relationship builder who listens carefully, understands customer priorities and communicates credibly with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to business development, with the confidence and discipline to create opportunities rather than rely solely on incoming enquiries.
- Strong presentation, negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage customers face to face and represent the business professionally.
- The ability to understand technical information and interpret working drawings or plans, or clear evidence of quickly learning technically detailed product solutions.
- Self-motivation and effective territory management, with the ability to work independently, travel regularly throughout Northern Ireland and contribute fully to a collaborative team.
- A full UK driving licence, strong IT skills and confidence using CRM systems to manage customer activity, opportunities and reporting.
Desirable
- Direct experience of ventilation, indoor air quality, HVAC or energy-efficient building solutions.
- An established network within Northern Ireland's housebuilding, residential development or wider construction market.
- Experience influencing product specifications and managing a project through consultants, contractors and the supply chain.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations relevant to residential ventilation and experience delivering CPD or technical presentations.
