We are looking for a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer who wants genuine technical influence, exposure to meaningful projects, and the opportunity to shape how work is delivered within a well-established Civil & Structural consultancy. You will play a key role in the design leadership and delivery of civil engineering projects across Northern Ireland and beyond, working with a respected team known for technical quality, pragmatic design and long-standing client relationships.
You will be responsible for the civil engineering design and delivery of projects across a diverse portfolio, spanning both the public and private sectors. Projects typically range from £1m to £20m, with occasional larger schemes up to £40m, offering a mix of technical challenge, scale and variety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the civil engineering design and delivery of infrastructure and development projects
- Managing the full project lifecycle from concept and planning through to detailed design, construction and completion
- Producing high-quality civil designs, calculations, drawings and specifications in line with relevant UK and Irish standards
- Selecting appropriate materials and systems with consideration for strength, durability, buildability, sustainability and cost
- Providing technical input during construction, including site inspections, resolving design queries and ensuring compliance with design intent
- Preparing clear, concise technical reports covering inspections, design changes and recommendations
- Working collaboratively with architects, structural engineers, contractors and statutory bodies to ensure coordinated delivery
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, contributing to a strong technical culture and knowledge sharing within the team
About you:
You will be a confident, technically strong civil engineer who enjoys taking ownership of work and is comfortable engaging with clients, contractors and internal teams.
Criteria:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering
- 5 years post-graduate experience in civil engineering consultancy preferable
- Strong background delivering projects across multiple sectors
- Proficient in AutoCAD with experience using Causeway Flow, Civil 3D and PSD tools
- Solid understanding of statutory approvals, drainage and infrastructure design
- Excellent problem solving skills, particularly at detailed design and construction stages
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across disciplines
