Cala Consulting are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their award-winning client. The company delivers bespoke projects for a wide range of clients throughout the UK and Ireland; from blue chip big names to smaller independent companies.

Purpose of job: The role will entail supporting the QS department in a range of activities as the company continues to provide a high standard service for our blue chip and independent clients. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of small works, major refurbishment and new-build contracts with our client portfolio working throughout the UK & ROI, primarily within the Retail and Hospitality and Heritage Sectors.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Setting of project budgets and allowances
  • Valuations and agreement of variations
  • Preparation of CVRs and projected profitability reports
  • Identification of labour, material requirements, sourcing and obtaining quotations
  • Liaising with our purchasing department
  • Preparation and agreement of final accounts expediently after works completion
  • Supervising and training junior members of staff if required
  • Payment of subcontractors and specialist suppliers

Qualifications & experience:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience working as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to independently deal with complex projects
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate with subcontractors, clients and client representatives
