Joining Cake as a digital designer is a brilliant opportunity to further your career and work with some of the biggest ecommerce brands in the business. As a key member of the design team, you’ll work across a variety of projects including ecommerce website design, website migration projects, CRM and email campaigns, paid social creative, and agency marketing initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with strategists, developers, marketers, and the wider design team to create digital experiences that are both visually engaging and commercially effective. This role is ideal for a designer with a strong foundation in UX and UI design who wants to continue developing their skills within a supportive agency environment. You’ll receive mentorship from the Head of UX while taking increasing ownership of projects and client work. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about digital design, eager to learn, highly organised, and excited by the opportunity to work across a diverse range of brands and channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Design user-centred ecommerce experiences with a strong understanding of UX, UI, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Produce wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for websites and digital products.
  • Contribute to website redesign and migration projects from discovery through to delivery.
  • Apply UX best practice and user-centred thinking to solve design challenges.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and effectively.
  • Design email and CRM campaigns that align with brand guidelines and commercial objectives.
  • Create paid social and digital advertising creative across static, carousel, and motion formats.
  • Produce creative assets for Cake’s own marketing activity, including social content, case studies, presentations, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with strategists and marketers to ensure creative outputs are optimised for performance.
  • Work across multiple client projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Participate in discovery workshops, client meetings, and internal reviews.
  • Present design work confidently to internal stakeholders and contribute to client presentations where appropriate.
  • Proactively communicate workload challenges and project risks to the wider team.
  • Stay up to date with emerging design trends, ecommerce best practice, and new digital tools.
  • Develop knowledge of UX research, CRO, and behavioural analytics.
  • Contribute ideas that help improve design quality, efficiency, and team processes.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a digital, creative, or ecommerce agency environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX, UI, and digital design work.
  • High level of proficiency in Figma, including components and variants, auto layout, interactive prototyping, and design systems.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles, responsive design, accessibility, and ecommerce best practice.
  • Experience designing websites and digital user experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence presenting and discussing design decisions internally.
  • A passion for learning and developing new skills.
  • Experience working on website migration or redesign projects.
  • Experience creating email marketing and CRM assets.
  • Experience designing paid social and digital advertising creative.
  • Familiarity with Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or other behavioural analytics tools.
  • Experience working within Shopify or other ecommerce platforms.
  • Understanding of CRO principles and A/B testing.
  • Motion design or animation skills.
  • Experience contributing to design systems.
