Joining Cake as a designer is a brilliant opportunity to further your career and work with some of the biggest ecommerce brands in the business. As a designer, your primary focus will be creating high-performing, on-brand digital design, across ecommerce websites, mobile experiences, paid ads, CRM/email campaigns, and social content. You’ll work closely with strategists, developers, and marketers to make sure every output not only looks good, but works hard too. You’ll be confident designing for digital-first brands, balancing aesthetics and functionality, and bringing clarity to complex challenges. While branding is already a strong skillset within the team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to brand strategy and visual identity work where relevant, learning from others while growing your own capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Design digital experiences, from ecommerce websites to mobile interfaces; with a strong grasp of layout, UX principles, responsiveness, accessibility, and performance.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure your designs are implemented accurately, with consideration for usability, technical constraints, and performance.
  • Design creative for performance marketing across paid social, display, and video; including static, carousel, and motion formats.
  • Create email and CRM marketing assets that reflect brand identity while being optimised for conversion and deliverability.
  • Support content creation for Cake and our clients, including pitch decks, case studies, social content, and campaign assets.
  • Participate in discovery workshops and wireframing sessions, helping to shape the direction of web and marketing projects from the start.
  • Contribute to design systems, component libraries, and pattern frameworks that support scalable, maintainable design.
  • Support visual identity projects when required, helping develop logos, typography systems, and branded assets.
  • Keep up to date with the latest design, ecommerce, and creative trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Deliver designs that are clear, considered, and commercially aware - always balancing brand and performance.

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience in a digital design or UI/UX role (agency or ecommerce experience preferred).
  • Strong portfolio showing web, UI, and marketing creative across multiple devices and formats.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator as a bonus).
  • Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and ecommerce UX principles.
  • Solid grasp of digital marketing formats—especially paid social and email marketing.
  • Confidence presenting work internally and externally, with clear rationale and openness to feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects at once, with strong organisational skills.
  • A passion for digital creativity, retail, and the changing world of ecommerce.

  • Experience working in Shopify or understanding of ecommerce platforms.
  • Exposure to A/B testing, CRO, or performance-led creative strategy.
  • Animation or motion graphics skills.
  • Experience building and maintaining brand systems.
