Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic circuits and systems, including analogue, digital, and power electronics.
  • Develop and optimise battery management systems (BMS) and associated control electronics.
  • Produce schematic designs and PCB layouts using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Conduct simulation, analysis, and validation of electronic designs.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and debugging activities.
  • Generate and maintain technical documentation (design specs, test procedures, reports).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. IEC, ISO, defence standards where applicable).
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience within an electronics business.
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electronic design (analogue, digital, or power electronics).
  • Strong understanding of circuit design, component selection, and system integration.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, KiCad).
  • Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex electronic systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with battery technologies and battery management systems.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical or regulated environments (defence, aerospace, medical).
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design and testing.
  • Familiarity with embedded C/C++ or firmware development.
  • Understanding of functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508).
  • Experience with environmental testing and ruggedised system design.

  • Full-time hours: Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am to 12.30pm.
