Caistor Health Centre are looking for an NVQ Level 2/3 Qualified Dispenser to work 20 hours per week in our dispensary.

Responsibilities

  • Processing prescriptions and dispensing medications and appliances in line with DSQS guidance.
  • Collecting prescription charges and banking monies.
  • Endorse all prescription forms as required and maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions.
  • Forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practice manager.
  • Notify the authorising doctor of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA.
  • Operate efficient stock control and ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner.
  • Ensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned.
  • Take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins.
  • Ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Manage health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policies.
  • Promote quality and diversity and strive to maintain quality within the practice, working with others.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, suppliers and stakeholders where necessary.

Caistor Health Centre is a friendly dispensing practice with approximately 5,300 patients.

We work closely as a team and are a training practice for GP Registrars and medical students with the Universities of Nottingham and Lincoln.

We are located in Caistor within the Lincolnshire Wolds with easy access for commuting.

Job Description

  • To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
  • To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the FP10 is filled in and signed by the patient.
  • To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are stored and banked, and a record kept of all financial transactions.
  • To endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms securely to the PPA for processing and reimbursement.
  • To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practice manager.
  • To notify the authorising doctor of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA for remedial action if needed.
  • To operate efficient stock control with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients.
  • To ensure drugs are stored appropriately in accordance with accompanying instructions.
  • To ensure shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene.
  • To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins.
  • To ensure refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintain a temperature control logbook.
  • To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions using computers when available.
  • To undertake any necessary work to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in pharmacy / dispensing services
