Food Lead

Role Description

The Food Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in Edinburgh, responsible for overseeing the food offering within the café environment. Day-to-day tasks include planning and preparing food items and ensuring that all food meets Cairngorm Coffee’s standards for quality, freshness, and presentation. We aim for our food offering to be humble with finesse and we need someone who can think outside the box to make that work!

The role involves managing food service during busy periods, monitoring stock levels, maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards, and supporting smooth collaboration with the bar team. The Food Lead will also help refine menus, manage SOP's, support training of team members on food preparation, and contribute to an inviting, inclusive atmosphere for guests.

Qualifications

• Strong food preparation skills, with experience in a café, restaurant, or food-focused environment.
• Solid understanding of food & beverage operations and food service best practices, including hygiene and safety standards.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and providing welcoming, professional guest service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on setting, including managing multiple tasks during peak service times.
• Experience leading or mentoring team members in a food service setting is beneficial.
• Knowledge of seasonal ingredients, simple menu development, or bakery items is an advantage.
• Availability to work a full-time schedule, including weekends and peak trading hours.
