About the role… We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Operations Co-ordinator to join our team. This role is perfect for someone with hands-on experience in basic payroll operations and a strong aptitude for data analysis. You will play a key part in ensuring payroll accuracy, supporting system improvements, and delivering high-quality service to both internal stakeholders and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, processing, and validation of payroll transactions.
  • Support the payroll team with day-to-day queries and troubleshooting payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Use Excel to manage, manipulate, and analyse large datasets (including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, and data validation).
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Participate in payroll system updates, testing, and reporting activities.

About you…

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within payroll, be diligent, well organised and able to meet all required deadlines.

  • Previous experience in a payroll or payroll support role.
  • A solid understanding of end-to-end basic payroll processes (e.g., pensions, timesheets, deductions, statutory payments, tax, National Insurance).
  • Strong Excel skills, comfortable working with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data cleaning.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Forward thinking/tenacious.
  • Thrive in fast changing/deadline driven environment.
