About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Marketing Manager (or equivalent) within FMCG who wants to shape the future growth strategy of Caffè Nero outside of its traditional store estate. The role has a focus on growing the sales performance of the brand through Brand Marketing, Commercial Innovation Initiatives and New Product Development for Caffè Nero’s newest channels – direct‑to‑consumer eCommerce, grocery and wholesale.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing and executing an annual marketing plan for each channel.
  • Leading key strategic brand initiatives.
  • Translating market and consumer insights into category and brand growth projections.
  • Holding P&L responsibility, delivering against challenging and exciting growth objectives.
  • Developing eCommerce media plans to drive traffic and conversion on the Caffè Nero website.
  • Creating brand building promotions through all channels to drive trial and conversion.
  • Collaborating with the retailer account management teams to drive performance via a calendar of retailer promotions and supporting media.
  • Creating brand appropriate content for all channels.
  • Leveraging existing and new partnerships to drive awareness and sales.
  • Working with the wider Caffè Nero Marketing team – including the CRM & Social Media teams – to maintain focus for the range through owned channels.
  • Leveraging data and customer insight to drive range development and NPD.
  • Managing the continued growth of the new ‘wholesale’ (Proud to Serve) proposition Aroma by Nero, including evolution of the brand, marketing toolkits, creation of seasonal campaigns, support on new customer development proposals and driving ongoing sales performance.

Skills & experience required

  • First and foremost, strong UK FMCG Grocery experience is essential.
  • This must be coupled with a solid understanding of the UK grocery market and its key drivers.
  • Experience and understanding of performance media for DTC brands.
  • A proven commercial marketer who can demonstrate success against the key responsibilities in all or some of the channels.
  • High drive to deliver results by engaging and influencing cross‑functional colleagues to deliver the New Channels Objectives.
  • A professional communicator at the highest level at all levels from presenting to deck creation.
  • Building marketing plans for distinct retail channels, especially direct‑to‑consumer, including driving awareness, consideration, conversion and loyalty through all available and appropriate marketing channels.
  • Marketing products which appeal to the end customers.
  • Handling complex data and insights to drive brand strategy and track performance.
  • Management of external media and creative agency partners.
