This post presents a unique and exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to drive an exciting, expanding cancer service in the Lung team. This post supports major strategic investment by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (CCC) to expand and develop Urology team provision and research focused work for patient benefit.
The Lung oncology team are based in the brand new, state-of-the-art CCC-L building. Urology clinics operate at 4 sites across the region including Liverpool (Central), Aintree (North), Wirral (South) and St Helens & Knowsley/Warrington & Halton (East). The post holder will support clinics at Central and North with some consultations being held remotely. Lung clinics are held within the Northern sector and CCC Liverpool site.
This post is a part-time (8PA) post. Whilst this post is advertised as a Medical Oncologist, applications from a Clinical Oncologist will be accepted and the job plan amended accordingly should the candidate be successful.
The Post Has The Following Broad Remits:
- To contribute to the overall leadership of the Lung service and to the delivery of the service to the Central (CCCL) and Northern sectors.
- To contribute to and support the wider research programme for the Lung in Liverpool.
- To participate in the educational programmes for trainees.
In addition to the site specific teams there is a broad range of teams in place to support all CCC patients through their cancer journey including Inpatient and Outpatient Matrons, Specialist Oncology nurses (clinical and research), Specialist Palliative Care Team, Enhanced Supportive Care Team, Social Worker, Cancer Psychology Services, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Cytotoxic Pharmacy, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapist.
Good communication skills, the ability to work as a team member, and offer a high standard of clinical opinion are essential requirements. Participation in the Trust consultant appraisal system and Royal College of Radiologists CPD programme are expected. Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register of the GMC before taking up the Consultant appointment or within six months of their CCT on the interview date.
