About Cafe Linea

Cafe Linea is a neighbourhood restaurant, bar and bakery set within an iconic 19th-century arcade on Duke of York Square. Inspired by European arcade cafés and bistros, we serve relaxed, produce-led menus from breakfast through to dinner and all those moments in between. Alongside à la carte dining, we offer pastries and patisserie from our on-site bakery, seasonal bouquets from our flower counter, and aperitifs on the terrace. Linea is a place for morning coffee, long lunches, late-afternoon glasses of wine, and candle-lit dinners.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who understands the day-to-day realities of a quality hospitality operation service, people, systems, standards and guest experience. You will work closely with the General Manager and founders, taking real ownership of daily operations and helping set the tone on the floor. This role suits someone who enjoys responsibility, leads calmly under pressure, and is ready to step into full General Manager responsibility when needed.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of the management and floor teams
  • Assist with rota planning, payroll oversight and labour control
  • Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures and issue resolution
  • Ensure compliance across health & safety, food safety and licensing
  • Work closely with kitchen leadership to maintain strong communication between FOH and BOH
  • Support stock control, ordering processes and operational systems

About You

  • Proven experience as a Deputy General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Senior Operations Manager in a quality-led hospitality business
  • Confident leading teams across busy, multi-service environments
  • Calm, organised and decisive, particularly during service
  • Strong operational knowledge, including rotas, labour, compliance and service flow
  • A natural leader who sets clear standards and supports others to perform at their best
  • Comfortable taking full responsibility when stepping into the GM role
  • Someone who genuinely cares about guest experience, team culture and doing things properly
